Longtail icon by wanton-fox Longtail icon by wanton-fox
Icon sized gif (50x50) - [link]
Please give credit if you use it, besides that it's free!

This is an icon of Longtail from SSS warrior cats episode 3 part 1

If you haven't watched the video yet, you really should!

Poor guy's in rough shape here, but that's what you get for messing with Firepaw :iconbadassplz:

Original animation - Yuji
Coloring and icon - me
Enjoy!

Edit - no I did not STEAL from SSS warrior cats, I AM part of SSS warrior cats lol
You can read the description in episode 3 if you want to see my name

Edit 2 - I'm sorry the animation isn't perfect, these are 3 frames from an animation that's over 15,000 frames! We didn't spend much time on each specific scene, I just thought you might enjoy it as an icon haha, a small, 50x50 icon, where the amount of detail criticized on does not really matter xD

First time writing a Critique, but this little animation really stood out to me. More so after I watched the video. (I think I read that it was based off a book? I might have to look into that. If so, I know the next book I'm reading!)

Anyways, back to this. I really think that this is well done. It's fluid and you can see the emotion in his eyes. I also like the character design.

Looking at the other artist's critique though, I have to agree about the blood. I know that animating might be hard, this blood just looks weird. It should be more of a splatter. However, I can forgive this because I like that gradient.

I also have to point out a few tiny inconsistencies in the coloring where you can see dots of white or other colors.

All and all, Great job!

I don't doubt that you've all worked very hard on getting episode three done for your copious amounts of rabid fans, and I admit myself that I was elated to see it finished. But there are a few problems that I'd like to point out.

First, I'd have to say that Longtail's left ear juts out very far from his head. Not only that, but in reaction to pain and apparent intimidation, his ears would be flattened back, not perked up.

The flow of blood is well done, but I take note of a very noticable jump of bloodflow back where his fur tuft covers part of his ear. Teeth clenched = blood stained on his ear. Mouth open = blood suddenly runs down to his head. I may not explain it really well, but you can see what I mean at the base of his ripped ear.

On the topic of said ear, you had a bit of a problem keeping the rip in it consistent in the episode. Continuity is difficult, but even a rip in the ear like that should be pretty easy to keep.

As for the blood running down his face, this is probably the biggest problem; blood is not a clear fluid. Pus and saliva are. I can see Longtail's symmetrical markings under the blood, which we should not be able to see. Additionally, his vision in that eye should be obscured due to the the amount of blood running over it.

Overall, it's well animated, shows a lot of emotion, but is jumpy. Could also use some touching up here and there with the blood.
